MARIETTA, GA – July 14, 2026 – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the attorneys and team at InPrime Legal announce the passing of our beloved Senior Business Advisor, colleague, mentor, and friend, Scott Sweeney, who passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026.
For more than nine years, Scott was an integral part of the InPrime Legal family. He was far more than a trusted business advisor. He was a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering integrity whose influence helped shape our firm and the people within it. His leadership extended well beyond the boardroom. He celebrated our successes, helped us navigate challenges, and invested deeply in the lives of our team members. To us, Scott was family.
Beyond his role at InPrime Legal, Scott devoted more than fifteen years to advancing education throughout Georgia. He served as an elected member of the Cobb County Board of Education, including terms as Chairman and Vice Chairman. In 2019, Governor Brian P. Kemp appointed him to the Georgia State Board of Education, where he later served as Chairman during one of the most challenging periods in modern education, helping guide Georgia’s schools through the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently, he served as a Commissioner on the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia, where he continued his lifelong commitment to expanding educational opportunities for students across the state.
Throughout his distinguished career, Scott earned the respect of leaders across Georgia for his thoughtful leadership, collaborative spirit, and ability to bring people together to solve complex challenges. Those same qualities made him an irreplaceable member of the InPrime Legal team.

“Scott was not just part of InPrime Legal. He was part of our family. Every day, he brought a smile to the office with his incredible sense of humor. No matter what was going on, he always found a way to make us laugh. He was the first person to offer a helping hand, the first to stand beside you during difficult times, and someone you could always count on without ever having to ask. Scott genuinely enjoyed life, and that joy was contagious. He had a way of making every person around him feel valued, supported, and cared for. There are people who come into your life and leave a mark that can never be replaced. Scott was one of those people. Our hearts are broken, and we will miss him more than words can express.”
The loss of Scott is deeply personal for every member of InPrime Legal. While his professional accomplishments were extraordinary, those who knew him best will remember his generosity, humility, sense of humor, unwavering character, and the sincere way he made every person feel valued.
Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with Scott’s wife of 28 years, Sandy, their sons Gabe and Jake, and the many friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched through his remarkable life of service.
Scott’s legacy is not measured only by the positions he held, but by the countless lives he influenced, the relationships he built, and the example he set every day. His impact on InPrime Legal, on the State of Georgia, and on all who had the privilege of knowing him will endure for generations.
